Soundproofing and Noise Insulation Between Residential Units

When it comes to operating apartments and condominiums as multi-family housing with long-term stability, soundproofing and noise insulation are essential factors.

Noise issues are among the top concerns for residents.
Noise from upper and lower floors or adjacent units can lead to disputes and move-outs, and without proper countermeasures, declining occupancy rates and reduced income are unavoidable.

KAⅡ Design & Work apartment construction pursues superior living comfort by incorporating various innovations in walls, floors, and exterior walls, achieving sufficient soundproofing and noise insulation even in wooden structures.

As a primary noise control measure, we use party walls.
A party wall is a wall that separates individual residential units.
It is constructed without gaps from the foundation at floor level up to the attic or ceiling space, serving both sound insulation and fire-spread prevention purposes.

Party walls generally use materials such as glass wool, rock wool, and gypsum board.
At KAⅡ Design & Work, we install walls between units consisting of 100 mm thick sound-absorbing glass wool insulation, with 12.5 mm gypsum boards double-layered on both sides.

This structure is certified by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism under Ministerial Notification No. 1380 as a “one-hour quasi-fire-resistant structure” and under Notification No. 1827 as a “structure with sound insulation performance.”

In addition, resin-based soundproofing sheets are applied across the entire party wall on both sides, further reducing everyday noise from adjacent units.
